Less VC money in Switzerland in 2003

Not surprisingly, 2003 will not be a good year for Swiss entrepreneurs as less VC money is being invested. Experts in this excellent piece from Valerie Thompson point to some of the problems: not enough entrepreneurs and our isolated position outside of the EU. I think that both issues will be solved soon. A new class of entrepreneurs starts appearing at universities around the country and at the same time, the mood seems to be shifting towards warmer feelings for EU.

An integration in the EU would also allow us to import entrepreneurs from other countries. Many foreigners are interested in starting their companies in Switzerland, but are often discouraged by the lenghty procedures and the difficulties to obtain a work visa.
